Removing a custom “from” address for another user,”Send mail as” bug,Rich Text Editor Won’t Load

An organization I work with had given company e-mail addresses to a few key people. Now one of them has left. We deleted his company e-mail address, but he is still able to send e-mail from the old deleted company address through his personal Gmail account since it was an added “from” address.

How can we prevent him from sending email from the deleted e-mail address. Obviously, we don’t have access to his personal Gmail account.

Post reply a few weeks ago Gmail implemented a long-awaited feature that of getting rid of the “Sender:” field when you are using “Send mail as’ feature using external pop3 account, where the outgoing message is routed through the smtp server rather than through gmail, so the recipient when choosing to view email headers cant see that the mail was answered to via gmail system (hiding the Sender: field). Now I am using send mail as feature with another of my gmail account, now the problem is the Sender: field still appears! And even though gmail supports pop3/imap/smtp there is no option in the gmail Settings page (Accounts and import) > select your gmail address > edit info > there is only the button to “save changes” there is no option where you can choose to use gmails servers and there by avoid adding the “Sender:” header to the outgoing email.

All replies Another problem is that in the Settings > Accounts & Import page, if you add new or edit existing send mail as’ and ‘get mail from’ entries, the port numbs seem to have been hard coded to be selected from a dropdown – you arent able to enter your own custom port number one of the email I am using to send mail as is using port 26 and only ports 25, 465, 587 are available in the drop down.I also would appreciate very much a shortcut to “search contacts” in contacts screen ?? …. how about “//” ? thanks http://friendfeed.com/Google24 – http://friendfeed.com/petrbuben – http://friendfeed.com/Web24send a message to a Group (which is just one of your “mailing lists”) simply enter the group’s name in the Bcc: field (and since you’re sending to a group, you should be using Bcc: for their addresses rather than To:!) – you should see the Group name when you click on the underlined Bcc: to bring up the Chooser, but you will have to change the selection from the default of “Most Contacted” by clicking on the down arrowhead in that selection box.

nice Michelle, except I would add the ability to click all send fields within the ‘contact chooser’ instead of having to close the ‘contact chooser’ and then click ‘Cc’ add contacts close, click ‘Bcc’ add contacts close; so for example clicking any send field in a composed message will bring up the ‘contact chooser’ wherein the other send fields ‘To’ ‘Cc’ and ‘Bcc’ are present to add contacts.

long been a fan of auto-match (or auto-complete if you prefer!) since it’s much faster – if you’re used to it.

Many (who come from the dark side!) have become so enamoured of that entity’s way of doing things that they cannot fathom Google’s way – so this enables everyone to have their cake and eat it!!

you might have seen on the Gmail blog or in your account, we now offer a way to choose from your contacts when composing messages! Please leave any comments about it or issues on this thread.Contact chooser, as many other great features in GMAIL, like inserting images on messages, took A LOT OF TIME to be implemented! this things are so basic and needed in a mail. Why these type of features that are available in most webmail sites (hotmail, yahoo, etc.) a long time ago are recently available in GMAIL?

…was about time.! I have to say: EXCELLENT JOB! but, i do preffer to have in first place the basic stuff for a good mail composing, then the other features gmail offer since its launch, and not backwards..well, how about

1…. “/” in a To: box would bring up contacts drop-down hint ajax list? /style auto-complete now/… wouldn’t that be easiest?

2…. present auto-complete might be adjusted to search all contacts already anyway, /or, what exactly is it searching now?/
